I discovered its existence during one of my post-lunch afternoon walks with my pal in Mylapore. The first thing that strikes me about Surya Sweets is ‘quality’. Both sweets and savouries are fresh, taste great and are reasonably priced. Not to forget, their excellent customer service. Its chat-corner, placed right outside the shop, serves up hot mouthwatering chats.

At any given time, you will find the shop’s patrons busy placing orders. If it is the homemakers in the morning, then it is the school kids munching on samosas and chats in the evenings.This only speaks for the shop’s popularity among all age groups.My personal favourites are hot samosas and chilled ras-malai.

On special occasions, the shop also serves up food items specific to the occasion.

However, it would be great if they spruce up the place and made it conveinient for people to sit and eat. At present, the lounge is quite cramped and can get messy if there is a heavy rush. Maybe they can take some pointers from their branch at Greenways road.

Surya Sweets on Greenways Rd, is spacious and well-maintained. Additionally, they also have fresh vegetables and also cut-veggies that are neatly packed.

Nex time you are in Mylapore or passing through Greenways rd, stop-over at Surya Sweets and grab a bite.
