Milk Khoa
If you are a big fan of Milk Khoa, then you must visit this tiny aavin outlet. It’s right next to Meenakshi College in Kodambakkam. Here you get one of the best (if not the best) milk khoa in the city ;-) In the second photograph, the shop is hid behind the autorickshaw.
P.S. It was too early in the morning for me to have Milk Khoa ;-) Hence no picture of the delicious sweet :-)
Isn’t the milk khoa that comes to these aavin booths mass produced and sent for distribution? How do u claim this particular aavin khoa is better than the others?
Sowmya,
This was one of the first outlets, where aavin sold their milk khoas :-) After the response, they started selling at more places. Thats why I had mentioned, one of the best places ;-) Aavin Milk Khoa is extremely tasty!
How many years ago did all the girls get together there waiting for their buses and eat a khoa or drink flavored milk!! Oh the flavors and the smells of Madras all come back and wrap me up to get through my cool Spring Days of Pennsylvania!!
I grew up in Kodambakkam and agree with you on the milk khoa (paalgova…as we used to call it). This place also used to serve the best Softies in the world. Haven’t come across another place anywhere, which can match the taste!
Khoa..yummy :) I just love that sweet dish and used to really bug my G’ma to make it, esp becoz after i ate from that store, when my friend once got it for me and then came a point when I used to ask my Dad to buy it for me , any store no matter :-)
I sure miss it in Boston now, though I do make this dish by using “nestle’s” Evaporated Milk in microwave for about 1 minute. What to do…something that I can get close!!:)
