Peoples Manifesto Launched

All the political parties in their manifestos have completely missed the real issues and have focused on populous issues like free rice, and television sets. A citizens forum led by Exnora International have formed the Greater Chennai Confederation, as association of 400 local citizens bodies and have launch a People’s Manifesto, to focus on the needs of people in Chennai, which has been largely ignored by the political parties.

Some Of the Issues Highlighted are

1) Preservation Of Waterbodies
2) Prevention Of the Airport Expansion
3) Prevention of the burning of garbage in Perungudi and Kodungaiyur
4) Demand for more flyovers and bridges to decongest the city

This Manifesto is said to be of a non political nature, Mr B Nirmal, founder of Exnora states

‘the manifesto was not political in nature but merely a reflection of the true demands of the city residents.’

This manifesto does focus on the needs of Chennai, but I wonder how it can be implemented since the Association has decided to stay outside the political System

I guess it is possible. A couple of organizations in Bangalore worked well with the government to bring changes. Of course, the key here is co-operation.

    everyman for himself

much of the voting population do not need this … so it is natural that the political parties do what this majority asks for … democracy is about the mass

its about what the populous thinks is good for them, not what it ;) … coz we can talk in absolutes
