Advertising that pleases…

I love to keep an eye on the ads that are around us, because now and then one comes across some really good ones. The retail ads on outdoor bill boards in Chennai have been constantly improving, led by local brands such as Basics and Derby. But here are two that are I liked very much, one that’s fun filled and the other done with a nicety that’s rare.

I shot the Rain Tree’s bill board hurriedly at the signal on Nungambakkam High Road at the intersection of Kodambakkam High Road. Sorry that its been cropped too close! It’s for their lounge bar, and the promotion they are having for those who watch the World Cup at the bar with the headline, “Free kicks this World Cup!”

The second is for Landmark’s new branch in Mumbai. Said simply, without fuss, and strikes at the core of a book stores reason for being. Good stuff. Lets hope we see more such quality ads in future. I believe they add to the overall quality of our lives.

The Amul ad boards are always apt and brilliant – I always look out for the one near Spencer’s.
