Statuory Warning: Drinking Alcohol is injurious to health

Its very tough being spiritual in chennai. Not everyone can afford to visit Taj, Park Sheraton or Le Meridien. The only option left is TASMAC. But they dont seem to have good brands. Kingfisher is not available most of the times, when someone asks for beer. For vodka you have brands like romanov (What a marketing strategy to name vodka with a russian eh?), Napoleon (For brandy) and Old Monk for Rum. Its better not to drink only! And its better if I dont talk about wine. They name it as wine shop, and all they have is port wine!!

You might have to goto some permit rooms like those of Hotel Ranjit, Crystal Inn, Pratap plaza, Geoffreys, Breeze, Gautam manor, Quality inn Sabari etc to quench your thirst. Even then you will have to compromise on the variety of brands that are available. And sure it will pinch your pocket. All these places charge you atleast Rs.150 per drink. With a couple of drinks and snacks it will easily cost you Rs. 500.00 per person.

You just cross the border, reach Pondicherry or even Bangalore and you get anything and everything at a decent rate. Why so much of regulations and restrictions in Tamilnadu alone? That too for cheap liquor(quality wise, not penny wise). Whats the problem. In what way our kudimagan(L) is different from other state people?

A review of some of the bars in Chennai at Tulleeho (only for those of legal drinking age).

Thank you so much for that link to Talleeho. You laugh, but as a Westerner, it’s been hard to get a line on the more tawdry places I fancy.
