Vehicles of Chennai

All the vehciles of my city
have been abused
a light scratch in the corner
a nasty dent in the rear
a sharp line on the body

They suffer
due to lack of space
to move, to be free
fighting for an inch here
turning violently to surge
in front there

All are battered
and bruised
yet they run
from traffic signal
to signal
in seach of elusive
free movement

Just like the
harried citizens of
Chennai.

describes my feelings exactly a week ago – I thought it was horrifying until I got used to it.

Wish I could write something rhyming now….

but don’t you think most of it is the fault of the Chennai drivers. Most cities are over crowded but not all cities are scary when it comes to travelling by road.

Sigh! I just got home from one of my scariest drives in recent times – two buses, a lorry and two 420s were intent on packing me off to netherland. Your post is all the more meaningful for me at this moment.
