2 Years RI for main accused in Stephanie Case

A fast track court has sentenced the main accused to two years RI and acquitted two others in the Stephanie murder case. In Sep 2004, Stephanie, 21 year old call center worker was chased by four drunk youth who dashed their car against her scooter. She died on the spot.

The incident raised a lot of noise and debate, and was forgotten as usual. It is a pleasant surprise that the prosecution could complete the case and get judgement within 2 years, considering the nature of Indian Judicial System. Whether the sentence is lenient is a moot point. It was after this incident the police became strict in imposing 11.00 PM deadline on the bars and acting against drunken driving.
