Radio City enters Chennai

Chennai gets a fourth FM channel, with Radio City at 105.8 MHz. Chennai already has Radio Mirchi 98.30 MHz, Suriyan FM 93.8 MHz and Raibow FM 107.1 MHz as commercial FM stations. Other than this Anna University (90.4 MHz), Loyola (90.8MHz), MOP Vaishnava(91.2 MHz) colleges too have their FM channels, though I haven’t listened to any of them.

Radio City was originally promoted by STAR, and now is owned by Music Broadcast Pvt Ltd, part of GW Capital which bought out STAR’s stake.

I actually wanted to check this out and tuned in to 105.8 y’day and was frustrated with the weak signal. I hope it improves and there are more channels, especially playing English music as well…

Radio city is very disappointing here in chennai, As bad as radio mirchi, Absoultely no quality programs. Not able to understand why these FM channels in Chennai can not play Hindi /English , Chennai wants to become cosmo but dont want to give one good FM channel for people who likes to listen English/ Hindi programs.Their research on user preference is far from reality, I am sure many people in chennai like to listen Eng.lish/ Hindi.

I heard a funny version of the song Vaseegara on radio city yesterday. Something like a remix…. it was made to sound like a song of 1930s and 40s. Really funny. I am desperately trying to hunt if its from a popalbum or a movie? Any ideas anyone?
