Dystopia

To understand Authoritarian rule you don’t have to resort to Aldous Huxley. Here’s a simple solution.

(1) Visit your nearest Airtel Broadband service provider.

(2) Tell them you’ve been suffering from poor connectivity of BSNL for the past fifteen days and received no support from their end. (Even if you haven’t a BSNL connection)

(3) Request them for a new connection. If asked for an address, mention certain locations in Chennai. Royal Enclave (no, I don’t live there) in Anna Nagar East, for instance.

(4) Your request will be denied. Ask them “Why?”.

There. You’ll be surprised to know the reason. And it will not be pleasant.

Disclaimer: Am not employed with Airtel/Bharti Telecom nor am I rooting for or defaming those folks, but merely using it as a case point.

Do they call Royal Enclave outside the city limit? I hope not.

For the benefit of tortured souls like me who don’t live in Madras and are not in a position to try the steps mentioned due to being several thousand miles away, could someone please post what exatly the reason is?
