The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to Food in Chennai

Thanks to Chenthil and Lavanya, and to the power of collective intelligence, we now have an unofficial and nascent Chennai Food Guide, hand-built by people circulating for around two weeks. Lavanya felt that The Hindu Metroplus: Chennai Food Guide was pretty good, and Chenthil sent us all a list of 70 plus restaurants he’s tried out. Couple of more e-mails (shoo, can’t share them) and here’s what we came up with: A Restaurant database.

This is how it works. If you want to add a restaurant to the database, use the form below. (Oh well, help it evolve and be of use to people etc) Or if you want to browse through the list and read about restaurants that people have visited, use this link. Do play around with the Filters. For instance, if you are a Greek God/Goddess and cannot stand anything less than Ambrosia, you can specify that option so that only restaurants whose food was worth a 5 on 5 rating will be displayed. Seeing as the database is in its nascent stages, if you wish to subscribe to its RSS feed so that updates can be traced, you can do so.

Queries on the restaurants should go to Chenthil or Lavanya and the technical issues with the database to me.

And you created this form without any mandatory fields ? Out of curiosity, I clicked the save button and it had added a blank record to the database.

Thanks Saravanan, for the pointer. Will fix it. And delete your blank record.
