Simply the worst pizza I ever ate
Yesterday driving down TTK Road after watching a movie, I stopped at US Pizza. It is inside a HP petrol pump on the road. They have an offer: Unlimited Pizza for Rs 99 along with salad and garlic bread.
The place is decorated with posters of baseball matches along with what I was lead to believe are famous Americanisms, like “what the hell”. I chose the offer because everything in the menu was above budget. A medium veg pizza can cost between Rs 110 and Rs 200. A non-veg pizza can be as expensive as Rs 300.
US Pizza has nothing to do with the US or baseball. They are Bangalore-based company with outlets in many south Indian cities. Three of those outlets are in Chennai: In Anna Nagar, in this pump and then in a place I have now forgotten. One more is coming up in Poonamalle High Road.
But I have told you why I am writing this. I wanted to tell you this because simply the worst pizza I ever ate was yesterday in this restaurant. The salad was drowning in a greasy stuff that was once mayonnaise or something like that. I couldn’t really tell. There was no garlic bread at all. The pizza that came after 20 minutes was raw with just onion and capsicum on top.
There is a historical account of how the first pizza came into existence on the menu card. I later thought that this pizza was made then somewhere in the 1600s in Italy.
I havent tried US Pizza in Chennai. But in Mumbai, it has been my saviour. Classic taste, and of course economical.
i am sure if not for the offer and the quite late timing that i went there, the pizza would have been better. but i doubt if that place ever produced a great pizza.
I think pizza was invented in Chicago…
I have had nice exp with US Pizza in Bangalore…
lorrl! Unlimited pizza for Rs 99 would always have some kinda catch man! But u can take consolation in this : On Saturday at Coimbatore, 3 of us ordered a pizza and accessories from Dominoes..the chap came 45 mins after the order was placed..the result : 1 large Chicken sthing pizza, 1 coke, 1 sthin else -Cost 35 Rs. :-))
Poetic justice of some sort eh?
pizza certainly was not invented in Chicago. it was made in Italy and became famous in America post world war II.
@shain, poetic justice? indeed.
@mehak, i am sure if i had chosen something out of the menu it would have been much nicer. i think i said that before.
You should try ‘pizza corner’ at nungambakkam (near niit). its a cool place and pizza tasted like U.S pizza hut pizza.
You Compromise on money..
Company compromise on many.many things
that’s always the catch dude..not a new thing
ya, i guess there is such a thing as compromise. but the pizza wasnt a compromise. it was shit.
