DMK claims an actor’s legacy

The “controversial” statue of Sivaji Ganesan was at last unveiled at the hands of chief minister M.Karunanidhi on the thespian’s death anniversary at Marina Beach.
Mr Karunanidhi pressed the button at 6.24 pm on Friday to unveil the statue in the presence of a gathering that included the prominent Tamil film industry personalities and Sivaji’s fans.
The eight-foot, 750 kg bronze statue stands at the junction where the Radhakrishnan Road meets the Marina, opposite the Mahatma Gandhi statue near the state police headquarters.
