Security beefed up in Chennai

The effect of the recent Mumbai Blasts seems to have hit the city of Chennai too. The cops have become extra cautious, beefed up security at all railway stations, airports and busy areas in the city. I was driving past midnight yesterday and while returning home was intercepted not once, not twice but thrice. First at Mount Road, when you turn to Patullous Road, next at the Llyods Road junction and finally at Luz Corner. No tipping, no hassling, just show all your papers and you are back on the road in exactly two minutes. Don’t even try to avoid the cops by speeding just in case you forgot to carry your papers. That would spell disaster.

Carry all your papers. Help the local police to perform their duty. Let Chennai be an “Amaidhi Poonga (Peace Park)”.

While I got down at Egmore Railway Station to proceed towards my office at CMDA Towers, people were allowed to go only through one exit point. People were asked to pass through the metal detector.
