Stunt Party

With a urge to learn photography in 30 days, i took my camera to the beach this morning. While struggling to get the best shot in the manual mode, got these fellows inside the shutter.

Full Picture here.

These people were doing high jumping stuffs, like a somersault. They werent playing for fun. It was 6. 40 in the morning.. and they were drenched in sweat. With so many pounds around my belly, I couldnt even imagine stuffs like this. So with all envy in the eyes, I was photographing them, trying the burst mode and all that, to capture the right moments of jump.

Then I spoke to them. They were practicing – for the movies. They are freelance stunt men who get money when Vijay or Dhanush are in need of a fight scene. They practice regularly every morning from 6 to 8. 30. The chances of grabbing a scene are very minimal, it seems. They are rarely called for a shoot. But these guys keep their hopes and never compromise on daily training.

The coach (You can see the video) sits with a rough moush and a Lungi, and he instructs his men. He is mainly concerned about the air time. They want a super-dynamic jump that shows the power of the heroes fists. Actually speaking the Hero doesnt even touch these men. It works similar to Italian Football team’s On Ground performance. Fall on feather touch.

They dangerously risk their arms, while they fall. All possible aerodynamics that can gift them a fracture. They have no assurance for the job, today. They dont have enough money. They just have a hope, that they will one day show their faces ont he screens. Only they dont get the recognition. If these guys fall beautifully, we are in praise of the Hero who hit them. The better the fall, the hero would be called a Action Hero in his next movie.

There was one thing I learnt from them. No. Not any stunt. But their desire to keep their skill-set afresh.

Was a good lesson to a programmer like me.
