Chennai Girl becomes Pepsico CEO
Chennai born Indra Nooyi ,currently President and CFO of Pepsico International will step into the shoes of outgoing Chief Executive Steve Reinemund making her the first Indian woman to head a Fortune 100 company.
Indra is a product of Madras Christian College and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. Following her graduation from Yale School of Management, Nooyi joined the Boston Consultancy Group where she spent six years. She then held senior management positions at Motorola and Asean Brown Boweri from 1986 untill 1994, when she joined PepsiCo

proud moment indeed….
i was a bit surprised because the gaffe that she committed during the valedictory speech she made at columbia a couple of years ago. indra compared the world to her hand, the 5 fingers to the 5 different continents, and starting with the thumb went on, and raised the middle finger to indicate the u.s.a (north america). americans from a wide spectrum were offended. inspite of that she got the 2nd top job at pepsi. two things that come to my mind – americans are forgiving (imagine if this had happened in india) and second, she must be awfully good at her job. :)

Its just that I can’t help thinking that some good publicity material for India is just what Pepsi needs right now…
