Theatres Likely To Screen Vettaiyadu Velaiyadu
Vettaiyadu Vilayadu will be released this month says this Hindu report.
Finally the movie is releasing, and the halls which are likely to screen it (well this is just a prediction, except for two of them, now where has it been confirmed)
1)Satyam Cinemas thought i hate the place, its releasing there
2)Melody has confirmed, this might be the first tamil movie released there, they even have a poster outside the theatre.
3)Sangam or Abirami : either one will definitely buy the movie, both are big enough and can buy the movie.
4)Udhayam Comlex/ Rohini : only one of these two will screen the movie, and I think it will be the bigger Udhayam.
5)Mayajaal will definitely screen the movie, they buy almost every single tamil movie released)
6)Thayaraja/Jayanthi/Pratharna one of them will buy the movie, it runs in one screen in tirvanmayur area, most likely Pratharna.
7)Agasthya will most likely be the theatre in Royapuram area to screen the movie, it is afterall the biggest theatre there, and have purchased almost all big ticket releases.
Since Satyam and Melody are planning to screen the movie, Devi wont be screening it. Santhi might be the dark horse, kind like the underdog, I don’t expect them buy the movie, since its in the same area as Satyam, but they just might spring a surprise and screen the movie. Albert and SSR Pankajam are the other dark horses in the race. With either Sangam of Abirami picking it up, its unlikely Albert will screen it, but some movies they have also screened, so really cannot predict. SSR Pankajam, located in Saligram might buy the movie, but I would go with Udhayam or Rohini buying the movie rather than SSR Pankajam. The list I think covers the entire city, or have I missed any contenders? Or theatres from any area? In case Ive left out some theatres, just mention them in the comments section.
Only two theatres – Melody and Satyam have displayed posters of the movie, none of the others have. But last minute changes, like Melody choosing not to buy it or Devi screeing it instead of Satyam, since none of the theatres are likely to have purchased the movie yet. I remember there was a rumour that Satyam would release Kakha Kakha, way back in 2003, advertisements carried Satyam as one of the screens, but due to last minute changes, Devi screened the movie and not Satyam. Such last minute changes are possible, especially since the buying is yet to start, it depends on availability of screens, and theatre owners wont be able to adjust their schedules, it though does help that there arent any big ticket releases lined up for the next month or so.
Yeah, last minute changes are possible.
I remember August 1, 2003… I was at Sathyam for a different movie (American Chai, methinks), and saw an announcement in the counter, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the movie Kaakha Kaakha will not be screened.”
You are telling this or that and almost all the theatres you have mntioned. It is like weather predictions; raim may or may not come at this or that place; I could’nt understand tail or head from the writing and moreover you are asking to suggest the names of some theatres in the comments column. In nutshell what you want to convey about the picture, and date of release and about the theatres where the picture would be released.
i think we need to keep our fingers crossed, as the movie is going into censors today, you never know what kind of shit these censor guys come up with…
Will it be a hat trick for Gautham Menon after Minnale and Kakka Kakka ? Wish it is as good as the earlier movies.
Its not hard to guess the theatres if you know who distributes the movie in the city. I read somewhere that Melody theatre is coming into distribution of Tamil movies and their first movie is Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. My take on this,
1. Melody
2. Sathyam – 2 Shows in a smaller hall like Santham or Sree.
3. Abhirami
4. Rohini
5. Kasi
6. Prathana
7. Agasthya
8. Mayajaal
Albert has less chance of screening the movie. Devi and Shanthi wont be screening this movie as it is screened in Melody and Sathyam.
Thanu, producer of Kaakha Kaakha, usually releases his movie in Devi not in Sathyam. I remember Kaakha Kaakha was advertised to be shown in Devi theatre before its release. On the day of release, I saw Sathyam’s ad in Hindu with Kaakha Kaakha being shown in Santham for 2 shows and the next day Sathyam dropped Kaakha Kaakha from its ad. My guess is that due to the profit margins Devi theatre mangagement might have pressurised Thanu to withdraw on Kaakha Kaakha from Santham. Thanu was already broke due to Aalavandhan’s fiasco and this may be the reason why Thanu’s movies like Sachein and Thotti Jaya were released in Albert and instead of Devi.

Melody theatre owner Abbas is the distributor of VV for Chennai/NSC area. Actually Sarath Kumar’s Band Master was released there. They even have the tickets printed but Aug 25 is not the 100% confirmed date because of uncertainity in the availability of a few theatres.
In Satyam it will be Sree or Santham – Ideally it should not be screened in Satyam because it will split the crowd in the Mount Road area
Albert is a possibility but IMO it doesnt make sense because its not very far from the Mount Road area.
Abhirami is screening it for sure
Rohini should not be taken into account because of obvious reasons :) – They might or might not screen it
In K.K Nagar area it can go to either Udhayam or Kasi and also possibly SSR Pankajam which is a jynx for Aandavar movies
Devi and Shanti are straight away ruled out
The trailors were released yesterday and though its the same long trailor shown in City Center, the audio visuals were better.
My guess is Thygaraja might not release VV – If JOK release clashes .
The theatre already has JOK posters. JOK is likely to be the next release there.
@Bala : What difference does it make whether VV release in Sathyam/Santham/Sree?Arent they same?
Here comes the actual list:
Melody
Satyam
Albert
Abhirami
Kaasi
Rohini
Bharat
Mayajaal
In2mind,
Sathyam is chennai’s biggest cinema hall in terms of number of seats(around 1300). Santham has 600 seats and Sree has around 300 seats. If a movie gets released in Sathyam theatre obvisouly more crowd will come to Sathyam complex and Melody loses profit. So Melody theatre management(Distributors of VV) will make sure that VV is released in small theatres like Santham or Sree instead of Sathyam and generate maximum profit.
