Navarathri

Nine different sundals come to mind this morning. Also nine different pattu paavadais of childhood, nine different evenings, ten holidays and countless mamis in their beautiful silk saris. Ofcourse there is the golu, there is the official social season, there are the poor mamas who feel quite lost while women all over Chennai ignore the men of the house.

Another Navarathri is here, the next nine days will be all colour and good cheer.

Warm wishes dear people!

well was waiting for a post on Navaratri.got one.but wont agree with “ignoring the men”..cos men do most of the setting up the “golu padi”,organising the “Bommais” and of course finish of the extra sundal..

    My thoughts turn to London!

There I would have been to temple most nights, and on many of them would have been playing morsing for youngsters or a veena orchestra.

Now I’m in the very epicentre of carnatic music and I haven’t even practiced for most of a year…

Those Vijya Dashimi days at veena teacher’s house, accompanying each of her students as they did their song, for eight hours or more in total.

Mind you, the standard here even among child musicians is so high it scares me…
