Chennai Street Map

chennai_street_map

Chennai Street Map is now available on Google Maps. Shown here is the hybrid mode.

Of course, the Moonavadhu Kurukku Sandhu’s and Muttu Sandhus may not be here. And of course, we aren’t going to take the aerial route. But this certainly helps to figure out where and which turn to take to reach Ramanathan Street, shown here, on this picture. We can zoom into some landmark near a desired destination, and then track the place and figure out the routes.

Even if it doesn’t prove any purpose, it is a simple time pass. People simply find pleasure locating their own homes.

I’ve located my home in Google Earth a long time ago, along with my relatives’ houses and a place in Adyar where we stayed for a couple of years. I wonder if the roads are available in installable program. Last time I checked, when I turned on the roads, there were a bunch of wiggly, widely-spaced lines bravely going over places where no road has ever gone before!

*Goes off to check to GE*

It’s still the same wiggly lines. :( In fact, I just installed the Linux version today. An upgrade’s pending for the Chennai region.

Thanks for the heads-up on Google maps. I’m sure it’ll be really handy.

Just noticed that our street has been left out because it’s shrouded by the tree tops.
    It’s a dead-end, but I still see other “less-significant” streets with a dead-end at least marked. >:-(

Wikimapia has a lot of locality and some street information on it.

Of course, it would be better if 1,476,283 people didn’t contribute rectangles called ‘My House’!

OK, guys… Spot the mistakes: I can see two wrong road names straight away in this frame:

    Re: the html

    it’s Insert Text

You need to insert the URL withing the quotes, like this:

Spot the mistakes in this map.

I guess I messed that up.

    INSERT TEXT

NOTE: There should be a space between the first ‘a’ and ‘href’.

regarding the map, I’m still looking over it. :-S

Thanks for trying. It would be nice if the bog software had buttons for links.

It’s one thing remembering italic and bold, but to a non-web-developer anything else is a bit much…
