MTC launches new services

This is with reference to your post in chennai metroblog about the new blue line and yellow line MTC buses. You wanted to know the difference between these buses and the normal LSS buses—I’ve found it out after taking a ride, myself.

1) Deluxe + LSS = Blue Line. An LSS service in a deluxe bus is Blue Line

2) Express + Deluxe = Yellow Line. It was mentioned that yellow line buses will not stop anywhere midway. But that’s not true. 21G yellow lines stop at important stops like mylapore tank, mandaveli, gandhi mandapam, guindy, airport, pallavaram and chromepet.

On wednesday last, two new services were launched—Orange Line and Yellow Line

Orange Line = L.S.S + Deluxe + Low Floor with automatic doors

White Line = Long distance + Deluxe + Low floor with automatic doors

Some white lines—adyar to mamallapuram (via both ECR and I T highway), 21G,PP21, 21H and a lot more

New routes:

554 — t nagar to sriperumbudur
518 — t nagar to maraimalai nagar
519 — t nagar to tiruporur
579 — broadway to padappai
521 — broadway to tiruporur
568 and 588 — adyar to mamallapuram (the former via ITH and the latter via ECR)

Very nice additions indeed to MTC. :-)

Bus system in chennai is far far better than anything in bangalore. It is soo expensive to ride the bus in bangalore…wherein the bus is supposed to be a cheap and easy ride for all the common folks.

Couple of stops in bangalore would right away cost you 5 bucks minimum. In Chennai, you can go far off places for just under 4!!! Even have tickets for 2.50. Amazing.
