New Traffic rules at Guindy, Saidapet, RajBhavan and velchery

It is tremendous move by the chennai traffic police, But I am not sure whether it is good move for the public. Today morning I was coming from saidapet towards velachery and found this new traffic rules been set up. At first my first impression was when I went straight to Raj Bhavan and just after the zig zig crossing “Oh no, I will have to be waiting for long hours near Raj Bhavan to take the right turn” to my surprise it was free right turn. Then came the second surprise just after the second zig zag cross it was free left turn to velachery main road. I didn’t have to wait in this hot sun for long hours.

There are few issues which I find,

1. Zig Zag crossings (quite dangerous, if there is no traffic people tend to go fast, as it a wide road.)
2. people who come from Guindy to velachery have to make a long drive

few of my friends who come from Guindy towards velachery said they had a long and tiresome ride as there was huge traffic congestion this morning, none said it was good move.

I think its a matter of aligning to the alterations before it becomes a habit…

I feel that all these trafic diversions are implemented to make the life of traffic police easy as they don’t have to man any traffic signals, etc. Apart from this i don’t see these are useful for the road users.

I pity the person who takes an auto from Guindy to come into Adyar – the extra 2 km will be sufficient cause for the auto driver to demand the moon!!
