And now, for something lighter
The day before yesterday, I saw what was probably the funniest sight ever in Chennai. On the new, Old Mahabalipuram Road, waiting at the signal was a bullock cart. A really old looking one, with wooden wheels. I didn’t have my camera with me, unfortunately.
The contrast between 6 lane super-highway and the ancient cart – it was perhaps the mosf fitting image for the pace of work on that highway.
I remember seeing a bullock cart that carried about 50 computers to HCL Tech in Haddows Road. That was funny then
“6 lane super-highway” ??
THAT, I think, is the hilarious joke!
If you dont believe me, just look at the huge pot holes, which, to navigate, may need a GPS software! Not to talk about the ‘night’ mare of driving on a lightless road on a moonless night!
Chennai’s infrastructure is underdeveloped for all the hype. The high land prices on OMR and the costs of transporting employees there, seem to be driving IT companies to start operations at many places within the city. Which may be why the government hardly seems interested in filling the pot holes.
The bullocks seem destined to be around for somemore time. Thats what they called fate, dint they?
I would agree with Parthasarathy’s point above. It has a LOT of potholes randomly distributed through the entire stretch.
