With the celsius reading climbing into the 40s, the folks who can’t afford to stay home find new ways to beat the heat. My itchy feet ensured I didn’t stay at home either, and I found a nice picture on Mount Road.

Do u guys think that air conditioned public transport is viable in chennai? (Buses, trains and taxis) Im sure that even if tickets are sold at a honest profit, commuters will buy them.
Im sure that many cars and bike owners may opt for a/c public transport over using their own cars or bikes.

I’m sure that if any service were made available at an honest profit, people would use it. But that leads us to another murky topic of discussion. Is anything in our country available at an honest price? Is there any public service that escapes the shadow of a corrupt motive?

Considering Chennai traffic and the smooth driving sense of common public — I totally agree

Manoj ,
Dont deny what your saying.. but we have to make a start somewhere.
An inherent problem in chennai is that citizen groups are not voiceforous and strong in demanding government action for civic problems, and the local media isnt too interested in providing sizeable newsprint for civic problems.
Hence government action or lack of action just goes unchecked.
You’ll know what im talking abt if any of you have read TOI / Mumbai Mirrors tabloidish approach towards exposing government inaction for civic probelms. Similarly if any of you have lived in residential societies in mumbai and delhi, you will know how strong citizen groups are there! Even corporation sweepers feel the heat if they are late by 30 Mins for their job!!
But as per my first line, lets hope they make a start somewhere. Suggestions : Beach tamabaram train line can have 2 A/c coaches. And some busy bus routes like 21g, 47A, 29C etc could have A/c Buses Plying on em,

Now imagine this scene: It’s 11:30AM on 15th May, 2015; the temperature, a moderately hot 45 C. A 29C slows down at a crowded bus stop and slowly opens its doors; all hell breaks loose.
