One thing led to another….

I was searching for some examples of art-deco styles in Madras, and it lead me to this page:
Roman Virdi’s collection of photos of Chennai. Some fantastic images, there, as well as a very glowing endorsement of the Residency Hotel (the old one -on GN Chetty road). Check it out. Meanwhile, here are the pictures.

“hey! Lookee there! Some guy in a white vest and black jeans! Copycat!”

We the speak the englees, you know?

Do you notice the hoarding at the top left? It’s a campaign for Naidu Hall, from, I think, 2 years back. But, more importantly, notice the line up of cars on the other side? Orderly! I mean, what? We had driving sense and traffic discipline in this city? Oh, man!

And, what actually led me to his page: A search for Art deco chennai (throws up two other Metroblogging cities. Talk about co-incidence!)

“This almost seems like Las Vegas…”

    That was my favourite. :D

Regarding art-deco, there are few of them around. One that I remember: Right behind the Sundaram showroom (TVS bus stand) – Madras Auto Services (?).
