One of Chennai’s little known giants – John Anthony
One of India’s most accomplished musicians, Chennai based John Anthony is a guitar virtuoso, who has been mesmerising audiences for over 3 decades in India and overseas.
In an illustrious career that began at the age of 14, John has travelled the fretboard in virtually every genre of music – jazz, blues, rock, western classical, Indian classical, movie soundtracks (over 3000 movies) …
And with the who’s who of the Indian music world – TV Gopalakrishnan, Kadiri Gopalnath, L Shankar,
AR Rehman, Sivamani, Jo Joo, Zakir Hussain, Vikkoo Vinayakaram, L Subramaniam, Ganesh, Kumaresh, Selvaganesh, Dr Balamuralikrishna, Louis Banks, Carl Peters, Karaikudi R Mani… The list is endless, and you wouldn’t be wrong if you believed there’s little he hasn’t done. But ask him, and he’s quick to say, ‘There’s still a long way to go’.
Karnatriix, a project he conceived a year ago, is another milestone on that never ending journey. And accompanying him on this magical trip is a brilliant exponent of the sarangi, Ustad Faiyaz Ahmed Khan. Keep an eye open for Karnatriix’s debut concert, and the album release. It’s coming in early July. In Chennai.

Thanks Manoj. Its good to know about such silent achievers who are highly regarded in their field. I think we should celebrate the greats amongst us with such prfiles or interviews. Good job!
