Can high tech gadgets solve Chennai Traffic problems

Just have been checking out some of the videos on CNN- IBN. After a commenter on one of my personal post had posted about a video link from CNN-IBN, found an interesting news about Bangalore Traffic police going High tech.

All it takes is a black berry phone and small hand held printer. And the black berry connected to a live data server offering information on repeated offenders when searched. The new service will be available from 1st of June 2007 @ Bangalore.

I guess Chennai traffic police needs these high tech gadgets.

Well here is the link to the video

im more for helipads and helicopters!

Here are the reasons why –

1. Criss-crossing public transport
2. No wide foot paths, so pedestrians and haphazard parking eats up an entire lane of the road on either side
3. no extra lane for u turns and right turns on every junction, so all trafiic heading straight has to switch lanes everytime
4. Roads with inconsistent width, and sometimes even silly design
5. That idiot lungi wala cyclist who think he owns the road, wants to cross it in high traffic and then abuses u for his stupidity!
6. The rickshaw travelling at the speed of 2 KPH in the middle of the road waiting for his savari

If hi tech gadgets can solve that. Then im a believer

I dont think high tech gadgets is going to be of any help!
It requires an all round effort..from the administration, public transport and public.
Administration need to clearly mark the roads, remove all obstacles, surprices like manholes or rather mountains suddenly raising at unexpected places. Public transport buses shouldnt be stopping right in the middle of the road holding everyone behind them randsom. Public should drive sensibly sticking to a reasonable speed and lane and not be cris-crossing the street like a street racer or drag the traffic down with a snails pace driving.
Ofcourse RTO needs to make rules for driving available to everyone. I wonder if they really have any rules framed in the first place..except for the stop sign, right turn, left turn stuffs!!!
A black berry wouldnt make any difference at all!
