Sify launched its video portal for Chennai on the 24th July at a glittering function at the ball room of the Taj Coramandel Hotel. The site was launched by Dr C Chandramouli, IT Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu. Raju Vegesna, the chairman and CEO of Sify Ltd, welcomed all the celebrities who graced the function, and there were quite a few!It is not everyday that one gets to see Kollywood stalwarts Chiyan Vikram, Madhavan, Dhanush, Reema Sen, Genelia, Namita, Narain, Jeyam Ravi, Sandhya and Bharath during the evening.

Chennai Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhani inaugurated the live traffic video feed, which is the major feature of the website.
ChennaiLive follows video portals for Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad and brings alive the city of Chennai! For ChennaiLive’s channels include video content on the latest happenings in the city (Chennai Diary), live traffic updates in the city (Chennai Traffic), gossip & updates on Tamil movies (Kollywood Masala), video reviews of the most happening hot spots in Chennai (Hangouts), hottest deals (Chennai Bazaar), reviews of the best known eateries (Meals Ready) and so on.
These were launched by celebrities Vikram, Madhavan, Dhanush,, Genelia, Reema Sen and Namitha.
ChennaiLive looks like it can become a platform, along with Chennai Metblogs of course, to stay in touch with the happenings in the city. No matter where a Chennai citizen is, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Canada or the US, keeping up to date on what’s happening in Chennai is now easy. The site also includes news from the city, news in Tamil, classifieds and directory listings, city maps powered by Google and more.
Good job by Sify…they shud also integrate a social network..like orkut for chennaiites.
Nice crowd of beautiful people in the first pic. It would have been nice if they were named in order. I particularly liked the third one from left. Wonder how much they charge?
Parthasarathy, the site is free for everyone to use.I particularly like the live traffic videos. One can check out Kapthipara before leaving for the airport! Have named the people in the pic as you suggested. :-)
