Tata Sky and the blogosphere
Kiruba also has a post on Tata Sky being responsive to the blogosphere. If they are I must say it’s very impressive. I say that because ever since we bought a flat screen TV in December 06 which came bundled with a Tata Sky connection, we have been trying to get them to respond for many months and come give us their service! The dealer says he has passed on the invoice to Tata Sky. Tata Sky’s national call centre put us on to their Chennai office. A kind lady there explained that the program had been such a runaway success that they were still coping with the backlog. She also told me that a customer executive would call and definitely give us the connection as they were going systematically through the back log. That was in April. It’s now September and they still have not contacted us. Mind you, this is pretty unusual for a Tata company who we have always believed run on certain ethics and principles. Well, they seem to have reached Kiruba based on his post, let’s see if there’s any response to this! If they do respond, my faith in the Tatas will be redeemed, and I will be sure to let you know!
As a subscriber I can assure you they do have an issue with service. It is over 30 days since we’ve been receiving messages asking us to top up our account on the monitor stating our balance is nearly nil. We’ve made repeated calls to Tata Sky asking for them to collect the money. We’ve given up simply because they have continued to offer us the connection (that still shows our account balnce as Rs. 4.84!) maybe we shouldn’t be complaining; after all the service is still on, only we are not sure for how long!
And now David, you want to use the Metblog to see if your faith in the Tatas is true?
Who would want TATA sky it only broadcasts Hindi programs the last time I checked. What purpose
would having this service have besides the marwaris that reside here wanting these channels with a few other locals who think it is cool to speak Hindi and follow this culture. No other person wants or needs this service. The majority of people in Chennia do not care about TATA sky so no point even mentioning it.
The name TATA once wellknown for efficiency is now muds. The other organisation that carries this name TATA INDICOM is a classic example for sluggishness, total inactivity and inefficiency. It took me more than seven weeks and a legal notice threat to get a reply from them for irregular accounts.
This should belong to the author’s personal blog and not in metblog, is anyone hearing????
Check my post about TATA Sky :). U’ll know how their service is…..
I have been using TataSky for about 4 months. My experience has been good. Picture clarity is superb. I think there would be some problem during heavy monsoon.
About their customer service :
The remote malfunctioned twice. First time they replaced the remote by courier. This time a service engineer came home to inspect the remote and then provided a new remote. I made a call at 10.30 am and the person was home by 4.00 pm same day. The engineer told me that they have now changed the manufacturer (philips) of the remote & such problems will not occur. I have had a pleasant experience with their call centre too.
I got tatasky only for the reputation of the TATAs and till today I have no regrets.
Thanks everyone for your feedback on Tata Sky in Chennai. Please do add to what has been contributed so far.
