I haven’t read any of his books. But my cousin worked in a bank that had a magazine club and so did my mom. And I have mentioned this in a number of different times but the time I got hooked into him was when there was this Madras specific magazine called Aside in the late 80s and the early 90s I think. Some local newspapers like Mambalam Times also used to carry his pieces about Chennai.Being a budding history buff, I got hooked to his and Randor Guy’s pieces around the same time.

have u ever felt that the level of detailing on his articles is so high, that it’s sometimes challenging to read?

I have his book on Madras, which I read occasionally and I try to catch-up on Madras Misc. every now and then. I’m also a subscriber of Madras Musings.
I’m amazed at how he manages to amass so much information.
