Top Ten Excuses…
A pretty gal will give you when you hint of a relationship…
1. Nee enakku anna madiri (You are like my elder brother, in tamil…)
2. My parents wont agree to this (However, they do agree things like low rise jeans, belly piercing and pick up and drop services of nice guys)
3. We wont get along (Psychiatrist advice!)
4. I’m not ready to get into a relationship as of now (but i will message u as a FRIEND, 58 times a day…)
5. We dont have much in common (Your friend looks hotter…)
6. You will find someone way better than me (you ain’t good enough for me loser!)
7. I have different expectations (You need to be a NRI making money in Dollars or Pounds)
8. Lets be friends (I still need you to pick me up and drop me home safe whenever required since i dont have a car nor a driver)
9. I already have a boyfriend (i just changed a month back, you turn will come soon)
and last but not the least, the most famous one…
10. I trusted you! (im still trying to figure out what the heck this implies :-( )
Awwsum blog. Message to Karachi Metblog – take that!
Nice fwd. is so tru. Wen i was in kollege, same thing happened. thnx 4 posting hr. another fwd is the raaki day fwd. what is ur email addy, dear? I’ll send you the raaki fwd 2. Can u hlp me fwd 2 sum more pplz via the CHENNAI Metblogs?.
This is a really good one, pretty much sums up girls these days and what they want.
This is pathetic!
I’ve been trying to suppress my opinions on this blog for sometime, while others were expressing their own. The quality of this blog has degraded big time. I’ve been following this blog for nearly a year or more, and I can surely say that it is now at a low. I’m not aiming this at any particular person but just the Chennai Metblogs as a whole. What was once a place for pretty good articles/reports on the events in the city is now primarily just a deposit for childish e-mails forwards, personal rants and links to newspaper articles. This is saddening.
Dilip,
Wonderful! How come you only have the courage to post such trash in Chennai blog? I can’t help but ask you what this blog has got to do with Chennai.
I’ve had read 100 such mails and I’ll forward them to you so that you have something to blog about for the next 3 months are so.
I admire people who blog because they have something to blog about AND
I pity people who blog because they have to blog about something.
Sorry to say that you fall in the 2nd category I mentioned above.
dude! .. first the Zune then this ..
this isn’t a personal blog ..
Am I the only one who finds this post sexist and offending? This is nothing but gender stereotyping. I’m sorry to say this, but even as a joke it is in poor taste. If anyone actually enjoys it, it reflects their regressive mindset.
Dilip, I found that you’ve posted the exact same forward on your personal blog sometime back. You’re recyling forwarded material from your personal blog onto here?? Your spitoon post was good (albeit too long) but this is absolute trash. You should consider yourself lucky to be an author on the Metblogs and reach out to a wider audience. No other author on the madras’s metblogs has been heckled so much and with unfailing regularity.
Folks, the post is classified as “FUN”. Please dont deliberately mis interpret it as something else and yeah, this is no forward. Something i cooked up sometime back and found that anyone with a flair for fun could appreciate this, nothing more, nothing less, period!

What an excuse! I think you have some responsibilities when representing a group such as the Chennai Metblogs. The stuff you posted above is perfectly suitable for a personal blog. If we wanted fun, we know where to go, and some might even visit your blog. We come here for a different reason.
I’m sorry to say this, but I think you should just stick to photography.
Navneeth: Your right to say this post is trash is acceptable. Your right to say weather or not i should blog at all is none of your business. I will do what i like, if you dont like the entry fine. Deal with it, swear at me, shout at me and do all that you please. You have no say in telling me what i should do, not that i care that you said it anyways. I will do photography, i will do rocket science, that is my business and none of yours. Stick your comments to the blog and the post and dont get personal. Yeah, you better be sorry you said what you said!
Dilip: No point getting indignant about the whole deal. No one will question you about your blogging if this was your personal blog. But do you even recognize that this is NOT your personal blog. This is a group blog that exists for a purpose, dissemination of Chennai specific information.
But more than venting against your post, I think have to call out your fellow authors here for not having informed you of this distinction when they got you on board.
Nandhu, David, Manoj et. al: Are you really listening to what people are commenting on Dilip’s posts? Do you really think we are all over reacting to Dilip’s posts? Accepted that we do not have a right to question him when he is not getting paid. But the lack of time does not seem to be a problem for Dilip. Instead a lack of comprehension about the ideas behind the whole metblogs concept sadly seems to be cause. My linking to the Zainub’s post on the Karachi Metblogs was in the fond hope that Dilip would catch what I was trying to say. But no. I don’t think I have anything else to say. I’m not faulting his presence here, but only against the fact that his ignorance has seemed to have gone unnoticed. Democracy and freedom is all fine, but I think group processes like this should stick to a common thread.
anantha: maybe you are right, i was never told im supposed to be writing “ONLY CHENNAI SPECIFIC INFORMATION” here. Otherwise i dont see a reason as to why everyone should get so offended with me and my posts. Secondly, the category under which i posted this is called “FUN” and i expected ppl would skim the surface while reading this section. Looks like its not really so.
“lack of time does not seem to be a problem for Dilip”: May i misinterpret this statement of accusing me to be idle and insulting me or you trying to say people who post many entries in chennai metro blogging are jobless? ROTFL!
Anantha, seriously what were you thinking when you wrote this about me? Do you have a hidden camera on my seat or something to see how i manage my time? I don’t need to tell you this but i work 18 hours a day and yes i know how to manage my time. Save your valuable time by not trying to make assumptions about my time management skills. I cannot help yourself if you don’t have time to blog, i guess im lucky and i happen to find the time. Peace :-D
Hey Dilip: I hope you read this comment without assuming I support the opposite side.
I read several of your posts and the comments there as well. Any new author on the metblog takes some time to understand what posts go well and what don’t. And it is also the responsibility of the rest of the authors to guide you as necessary.
From all the comments on your posts, I hope you are able to see an underlying message that some regular readers are trying to tell you – write about your experience of Chennai and not your experience of life. Fun or no fun, if the post does not pertain to Chennai, it does not belong on this group blog and should only stay on your personal blog.
Frankly, these comments are not abusive. They only show the sense of belonging that some readers have for this blog. And while your intention seems to be to make the readers understand what you are about, why not take the cue and understand what the reader wants. Ultimately, we all write to be read.
Good Luck.
Fun or no fun, if the post does not pertain to Chennai, it does not belong on this group blog and should only stay on your personal blog.
Thanks Lavanya. A couple of us have said this earlier, but were rebuffed under the “I don’t care what you say and I’m free to interpret things my way” argument.
Dilip,
I don’t understand why these comments set you off so much. I think you are overreacting,, take it easy man :) You may want to tone down your ‘i don’t give a @#$%’ attitude a li’l bit. The Metblogs have been relatively clean with very few profanities being used. I found in some of your replies to the comments you’re language was not exactly, um how do i put it.. parliamentary (no reference to the parliamentarians of today). Please refrain from using words like b@!!$. It’s not as if I (or we, the readers) can’t use these words – it’s just that *this* isn’t the place for it.
This is trash guys.. I follow two metblogs, one is Bangalore and the other is Chennai. While the quality of the Bangalore blogs is pretty decent, the quality of the Chennai blogs is in a downwards spiral. I keep seeing forwards and maama thayir saadham posts here. Wow! Is that what Chennai has come to?
are there girls like this for real in chennai?
The post could have been avoided. It is childish and immature and I think it best belongs in personal blogs..
;-((
one can even excuse Dilip….but not DJANGO..
i second vikram…that is am also following two blogs…chennai and Bangalore…chennai blogs getting irritating day by day….
DJANGO…u cud have avoided this reply….i pity for u than Dilip….Dilip wrote some common and funny sentences abt girls which are popular amongst boys….that cud have been avoided in a public blog like this..
But DJANGO…mind u…several girls and ladies are following these blogs….who knows …even ur mother or sister might follow chennai blogs…what they will think of chennai and u?
Shame on u guys…
cetainly this is not the way to protest DJANGO…
Hahahaha! Thanks for the post Nams. I knew Sidy Dilip will remove my comment. I guessed it a long while ago. Nams can you explain where Django mentioned anything wrong abong women dude like Dilip did. I also read the comment posted by Django. Especially his last sentence was awesome.
Hahahaha! I knew Sidy Dilip will remove Djangos comment. Nams can you explain where Django mentioned anything wrong about women dude like Dilip did. I also read the comment posted by Django. Especially his last sentence was awesome.
peter@yahoo.com: If you appreciate what django wrote here then the sidy one is not me but you. Obviously you are not man enough becuase your email is not the right one. Why dont you grow something a man requires and show your skills in debating the blog rather than debating me. Criticise the blog, if you do know how to do that then better go learn some vocabulary from your 6th grade english teacher and come back here. Ill be waiting…
Hey Dilip if u remove my comments and post some stupid comments out of desperation to cover urself, do you think I won’t notice it? Pls other good bloogers here pls remove this guy Dilip from here. He is sick and thinks he is smart.
Hey Dilip you think you are too tough huh. Just because you article won’t be removed does’nt mean you can remove the comments and blabber like a moron. Your Zune article sucks and your attitude of addressing people who comment her also sucks. If you notice Mr.6th grade pass out, you have vehemently criticized someone, half the times you commented and that does’nt make you someone who u are not. The fact is you are a loser and you are so cheap you post dirty things about women and you are so streotyped. It’s time you see a mental doctor to cure your ailment man.Sala stupid chooth hai thoo. everyone here wants to spit on your dirty face!
Hey Peter,
Each n every word DJANGO wrote are wrong abt women only…if u cant understand that,it means either u dont know tamil or u r acting….
DJANGO…u ve no rights to ask for Dilips removal…after posting those kind of words in this blogs…
(which are mainly women centric…who gave the rights to u to post those words?do u even dare to speak those words in an open debate where girls are present?? )
NAMS
awesome summary.
man, if most women in south india couldnt read this post, we could expect the next generation atleast to be relationship savvy :)
As Vikram said… Chennai metblogs is a little bit moving away from Chennai issues and lining up more towards personal issues. Bangalore metblogs is perfectly lined with Bangalore issues.
I think all people like me who follow Chennai metblogs to get a flavor of Chennai while out of Chennai, do not favor personal posts on this blog…
This guy Dilip sucks. This is the pathetic state of cheap guys in Chennai and Dilip is the epitome of such idiots.Dilip I understand yoiu are a road side Romeo trying your pranks here. Please stop it monkey.
Priya madam..!
where are u from…mam??? wherever from u, i wont say “this is the pathetic state of cheap gals in “……!!!
why…u dont like road side romeos or acting as if u havent seen any boys while u r roaming in any roads???
dont be silly…u have right to comment on blog, but not on blogger……
stick to ur limits and dont comment upon entire city guys as if everyone is going beyond gals…!!
dont think urself too high mam….control ur tongue……
whoever is the owner of this blog…
I request them to close the comment section for this…for unnecessarily we are wasting our time and energy to answer some cheap and narrow minded guys like PETER or DJANGO or gals like PRIYA.
NAMS
A very good blog. And though some may see no Chennai relation, I beg to differ. Much of the irony – like the belly button bit – is due to the bigger changes in Chennai compared to, say, North India.
Feminist extremism is defenitely on the rise. Let us persist in calling a good blog, a good one.
http://www.498a.org
Priya, with all due respects im no road side romeo, probably because i do not have any necessity for it. I have quite a lot of friends who are women and they share a good laugh with this blog from the perspective of what i categorized this blog entry calling it “FUN”. If you know what that wonderful three letter word means. I do agree through it was not a good idea on second thoughts to put this here and i duly apologize for it. Yet, calling me a road side romeo only increases my face value because that means you declare i am in fact romeo or so like which i treat as a compliment.
Nams, thanks on the heads up.
Parthasarathy, you are an eye opener. I never thought this was possible!
