Mocha Coffee & Conversations….

This is one heck of a place ive fallen in love with madly over the past few months. Introduced by a long last friend as an excuse for a treat for her to come back to chennai this place was a good thing to go to and for me to find out. Located in Khadhar Nawaz Khan road its a killer joint for the Hip hangout types, if you are looking out for one.

Drive into Khadar Nawaz Khan road and when you hit the very last end of the road on your right covered by trees is mocha…

Of course most of the crowd here are under 20’s and the very first time i was here made me feel like i was too old for the place for a 26 year older. While the “My dad is an ATM” folks make merry out here getting off their Volkswagens and Mercedes, jokes apart there is some serious stuff that has to be considered in this place. First off the coffees are great. Not the conventional Mocha frappes you get in Qwickys (which i hate by the way) or the Kaapi Nirvana in CCD (although im a big fan of CCD’s myself) this place has a lot of variety to offer.

The srilankan omelet stuff and the chocolate avalanche senior are two things you gotta try out here big time. There is hookah with tobacco and non tobacco bases stuff and its served to majors only on producing some ID and its a major no on your face if you don’t.

The place is packed and noisy, peace seekers certainly wont like it but party animals would love it. Great music and 25″” Plasma Tv all around the place with great places to sit, bean bags and stuff, its all in here.

The outdoors is beautiful, a stream of water runs by your table between you and the other person sitting on the other end. There is a lotus pool filled with water and lovely flowers all the time. Reclining chairs and couches and all the lazing around items you can ask for are here to laze you to your best.

If you are in the mood for some making the noise with friends or a casual date outing to impress somebody this place has to be given consideration. The price is upscale but is worth the stuff you get here. No one can get more innovative to serve Ferrero Rocher shakes or snicker shakes other than this place.

The service is slow but so is every good place in town and it makes not a big deal.

On the whole if money is not the primary factor and noisy places are cool for you, mocha is where you want to be looking at for a good passtime on a lazy sunday afternoon.

I used to frequent to Mocha which appeals to the young crowd. But its over populated and getting an indoor seat is tough at the prime time.

Sitting outside is like telling the mosquitoes “there is a human buffet out there”

Food is good. Coffee is better at Barista anyday.

CCD coffee and service sucks in my opinion. 7/10 times i have heard that ccd coffee machine is out of order and that they only serve cold coffee, ice creams and stuff.. W!F

And I was so disappointed that the wifi at CCD doesnt work.

There is another place which i liked – The Amethyst. Check it out. It is at Gopalapuram and it rocks. The crowd is much more suave.

A contrasting post to the Teakkadai one which we saw a couple of days before.

I was bugged major time by mosquitoes two out of the last 4 times I went there. Except that (that is if you could live with that), it’s a nice time pass.

The music is terrible (I was tortured by children playing 70s rock the last time I was there), the service is non-existent (not to mention half the servers are Asian girls who don’t speak English, I guess it’s asking too much for servers at such a place to speak Tamil), and the food it mediocre at best. However, the pond is pretty and it seems to be gay-friendly to put it matter positively.

well someone agrees with me on the mosquito thing. thanks….

i have to agree about their poor service too. But somehow it has carved a niche for itself. Mocha that is.
