Modi is in town

Narendra Modi is the chief guest for this year’s Thuglaq magazine annual function. The function is being held at Kamaraj Memorial Hall in Anna Salai, just before the fly over. There is a huge police presence around that area and traffic is haywire. Unless you want to be stuck in traffic for hours, avoid Gemini fly over junction today evening.

Traffic hold up this afternoon was bad — but not nightmarish.

Is Modi’s visit anyway related to his full page ads in Hindu and Express delivering “Pongal Nalvazthukkul” to the people of TN?

I can’t believe people like this being re-elected again in India. It looks like the day for all fundamentalists in the world, what with Bush, Modi, Sarkozy being elected.

    Karthik,

Whats wrong with Modi? This is not a sarcastic question.

Murali and Karthik – I request you both to take your interesting arguments that will definitely follow to your personal blogs. This post was meant as a traffic advisory only.

    Folks,

Modi has been elected, whether we like it or not. So let us leave the choice of choosing the CM to the respective states and not start discussing politics (in any case, Modi is not related to Chennai in any way other than his visit).

I too have my political views on Modi, but I think this is not the right forum to discuss them. Hope we are in agreement on this…Thanks!

What is wrong with Modi? Maybe people should be asking the opposite question, what’s not wrong with Modi?

He is what I and many others in world would say is a relgious fundamentalist. He is able to mix politics and religion in the most dangerous format inorder to win elections. The post-Godhra incident, and the carnage that killed scores of people are enough to show his way in politics. I saw your personal blog (curious mind), you live in the US, and you know the fundamentalistic politics being played by Bush & Co here, that’s exactly what I am talking about. But, if you are for some strange reason a fan of Bush-Modi politics, then I guess it wouldn’t make any sense as to what I am trying to say.

    Shyam & Chenthil:

I agree to what you are saying about not being the right forum. I just couldn’t help, will try avoid those in the future.

WHEN TAKING INTO ACCUNT THE WASTE OF TIME, COST OF FUEL, COST OF DEPLOYING THE COPS AND TENSION, i FEEL, IT IS BETTER TO ARRANGE A HELICOPTER TO SUCH VIPS TO MOVE FROM ONE PLACE TO OTHER WITHIN THE CITY

The roads of Chennai are for the people of Chennai.

If politicians are going to use them, then they should do so as ordinary citizens, along with the rest of the traffic. If they are so hated that they are put at risk by that then perhaps they should stay at home.

Anyway, it is utterly wrong that chaos should come to a city because one individual wishes to travel from one place to another.

Kick Modi and his band of dim wits out he should be not allowed to come into the city, him and his party stink like gutter trash. He needs to get a razor also.
