Plus 2 and Minus Performance

Tamilnadu Higher Secondary Exam results have just come out, and as usual every single person is worried. Thats just a formality anyway. The overall performance of the sudents have come down. The school I studied in has shown a downfall in terms of number of centums, and the news media states the same elsewhere.

17 students scored 200 in physics compared to 1131 centums last year. Whoa ! Thats something wierd.

What are the implications ? Either the previous year students, because they had the same syllabus, were able to make out what would be asked in the Question papers, and made their preparations accordingly. Or the Current year students werent prepared well for the current Syllabus. Blame it on the teachers who infact struggled a lot this year. Well, who ever did the mistake, its only the students who carry the worries.

The Heat wave is on, and students have a tabulation with just the TNPCEE marks left blank in the equation. That would be complete next week, and the hunt for the colleges will begin.

Just a suggestion… If you come across a worrying kid, please give him some consolation and hope. They are having Hell at Home already !

News about the Toppers here.

Will this happen in Chennai?

CNN-IBN says, that Delhi highcourt has banned the interviews of kids/parents conducted by private schools for admission. This ban holds good only for schools in Delhi.

Will this happen in chennai? :-)

TNPCEE Mania

Whilst DMK and ADMK are thinking hard about the Vijayakanth factor, Dinamalar has shed its concentration on the other silently brewing issue. TNPCEE – a Hero of the yesteryears and a death-victim of this year, is back in action this May.

Students this year have faced numerous entrance exams already.. and they are all facing TNPCEE by default. I pity this year +2 students. The Syllabus was changed. Im aware of a few teachers who werent capable enough to handle the subjects this year. Physics exams were really tough this time. And after crossing all this, they are still in a confusion of their higher education.

It was money that had played in Education, all along. This time it is politics.

Anyways, Here’s a good thing that Dinamalar has done in association with Mindwebx.

The Indranagar-Kasturba nagar belt

The Indranagar-Kasturba nagar belt, which is a part of Adyar is a great place to live. The place is as good as a small township with all the facilities taken care of. It is predominantly a residential area. The roads are in good condition and a large number of trees provide a welcome respite from the soaring temperatures. For early morning walks, it makes for an ideal route. For those who are not to keen on exploring the roads, you can head for the Indranagar Park.

When you take the Indranagar, 2nd Main Rd, on the first right is a board displaying the title, “PARK” with a arrow pointing in the direction of the park. I used to be a regular at the park in the early mornings. You can enjoy the twittering of the birds, the fresh morning air and the lush greenery. Both young and old walk there regularly. Ever since the fitness mantra included a brisk 30 minute walk, the number of walkers has risen. If you find it too crowded and claustrophobic to walk inside the walk, then you may walk around the park. The park also has swings and other play stuff for kids. There are also benches where you can sit back and just relax. In the evenings, you will find this section of the park invaded by the little guys. While the mothers catch up on the day’s gossip, the kids are busy having a whale of a time playing.

For the fitness freak who can afford a little extra dough, Maverick is right ahead of the Park. Right across the entrance of the park, is a small pathway that leads to the Indranagar main road. The pathway is a part of Maverick. The gym comes equipped with all the possible machines and equipments you would want to work with. There are professional trainers who take you through your everyday work out. After a hard week’s work out you can probably chill out at their steam room.

Another classy gymnasium is Talwalkers, which is located right opposite to the T.T.K Hospital in Indranagar. They also have a branch in Nungambakam and are soon opening one more branch in Annanagar. Right now, the gym is also offering special summer discounts on their fitness packages.

Madras Musings

Do you know of a fortnightly called, Madras Musings? If you are not aware of its existence, now is the time to sit up and take notice. Infact, I did not take to reading the articles seriously until I became a part of the MetBlog community.

“Madras Musings – We care for Madras that is Chennai”, is devoted to the preservation of Chennai’s heritage. If history interests you, then Madras Musings offers an excellent treat on Chennai’s ancient buildings and monuments, like the Madras Sanskrit College, pioneers in various fields like Ramnath Goenka of the Indian Express, otherwise known as the Tamil Marwari, and other enriching articles that contribute towards the development and preservation of Chennai’s legacy. Articles of general interest are also included.
