Koyambedu Market, Chennai
Today I visited the Koyambedu Market. The market considered to be the largest market in Asia has about 2500 shops for vegetables, flowers and fruits. The visit had twin objectives – to buy vegetables and capture some images for flickr. Both were achieved. Vegetables are cheaper by 2 to 3 Rs compared to the neighbourhood market prices. The market generates about 100 MT of organic wastes per day which is being dumped into the landfill. I learn from the net that 2 MT of organic wastes is being composted. I am posting some images taken at the Koyambedu Market today.
