Bloggers blocked across India

Reports are just trickling in of a pan-India ban on blogspot and other blogging sites by service providers like Airtel, Reliance and BSNL. Sources in Airtel said that their technical and backup team had recommended the blocking of the blogging sites citing security reasons. Rumours are afloat in blogsphere that the sites are being blocked in the aftermath of the Mumbai serial blasts. This, however, could not to be confirmed now. These are some of the ISPs blocking blogspot, typepad and other sites: Spectranet
MTNL , Airtel, Sify, Reliance Powersurfer / Infocom, Exatt, 7 Star Cable Service. Anyone has more news, please post updates.

    I used Airtel BB…and am not able to access blogspot since afternoon

    looks like Airtel has blocked out blogspot.com sites…
    Not sure what is the logic behind this… are terrorists going to use blogs for masterminding the attacks??? they should have so many other options…

    I just recognized the second link is a blogspot, too.
    So I copied some of the tipps:
    Replace the name labnol with the name of the wanted blog
    http://www.pkblogs.com/labnol
    or
    google.com/gwt/n?u=labnol.blogspot.com
    or
    use RSS Readers Fire up Newsgator, Bloglines, Google Reader or any other web based newsreader and subscribe to the blogspot blog rss by typing xxx.blogspot.com/rss.xml or xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml in the URL field.

    Nandhu, there was a directive from the Department of Telecommunications yesterday apparently asking that blog sites be blocked. There seems to be a lot of confusion about this as evidence the front page stpry in ET today. However, the good news is I am still able to access my blog on blogspot.
