Melody theatre and the mad rush for parking

It was a Sunday afternoon. Rather yesterday afternoon. When me and friend suddenly decided to go for Vettayadu Vilayadu. Everyone at home said, we must be out of our minds. We ain’t had tickets. But, we went ahead. I picked him up from Kutchery Road, drove towards Melody. We reach the Clock Tower and the car comes to a grinding halt. We are at the mouth of the General Patters Road, where the theatre is. It is a one way. And no one seems to be observing it. Plus, Melody had only one entry cum exit point. So all the cars and bikes need to wait on the road, until the previous movie gets over and all vehicles cleared out. My friend quickly jumped out of the car to hunt for tickets. He came back with a smile on his face in exactly 30 seconds. And he tells me more tickets are actually been sold in black than in current.

The car edges forward. It is already past 3pm. And the movie starts at 3. We are finally directed to the parking lot, made to park our cars in a fashion wherein even if you have an emergency you cannot take your car out until every one else moves. Paid the Rs. 20 parking. But what is ironical is once the movie got over, me and my friend were waiting like idiots for a good 20 minutes for the cars in front of us to make way. And when we come out and about to hit the road, the same traffic situation that we faced while entering continued. The Melody theatre management must look into this seriously. Their parking really needs shaping up else, they will keep upsetting the movie-goers and the general public all the time.

Vinod, I’ve already read your complain about parking your car in Sathyam theatre and now in Melody. Im not sure if the sathyam one is reasonable.. and I dont know about the Melody car parking.

I’d personally suggest you take a Bike, when you and your friend alone are going..Nothing like going on a two-wheeler :)

Plus.. Not just melody, many other places in chennai wouldnt care about the parking space. It is a headache everywhere.. So i dont think it is reasonable enough to blame Melody alone.

I’d rather appreciate if you were to ask the Melody Theatre Management to stop selling tickets in black.

Melody, i ve seen movies in this theatre before and usually hindi movies… let me tel you you will have so much parking space … i mean the theatre used to pick up “sotthai” hindi movies ..wjile the bigshot ones goes to sathyam

and you go to melody to watch sappi hindi movies hardly 3 rows would be filled… and then there would ne parking problem …

but come on this is VV … and anybody in chennai would want a ticket…so they didnt expect this parking problem .. They should have actually expected them
