Bomb threat to schools

Three schools in the suburbs of Tambaram and Chrompet declared a holiday on Wednesday after a school received a phone call threatening to bomb its premises, causing panic among students and teachers. At 8.40 am on Wednesday, a staff at Seethadevi Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya in East Tambaram received a call threatening that a bomb had been planted in the school. It would explode in three hours, the caller warned. The news of the threat spread like a wildfire. Parents, who were in a state of panic and were visibly weeping, rushed to the school and took their children back home after a holiday was declared. By 10.30 am, the parents had thronged schools like Vivekananda Vidyalaya and St Paul’s School. According to the police, parents insisted that a holiday be given in spite of the fact that the schools had not received any threat. Following this, these two schools too declared a holiday on Wednesday, the police said.

this was just a prank call that people took too seriously. in fact, police suspect a young caller. may be it reflects the paranoia prevelant in the city. well, may be.

its high time the police track these prank calls and make the guy public … punishment of shame such incidents should not go unchecked … it maybe fun for some but not at the cost of others … the guy who did that needs a lesson

Prank callers do get caught. I think the guy who delayed the president’s plane was caught on a security camera making the call from a PCO?

And people who are stupid enough to do this sort of thing as a joke are often stupid enough to use their own cell phones.

That’s the jokers: they are just idiots. The terrorists who realise that a hoax call creates the same amount of panic and fear with little effort on their part; they are a very low form of life indeed.
