The Big Boss

Mark your Calendars ! May 31. May 31. May 31.

Sivaji is the talk of the city. Almost every conversation begins with two major issues. “Chennai is burning like hell.” and “when is Sivaji getting released ?”. Well, I dont know when the heat will die, but Im sure Sivaji is all set to hit the screens on May 31. It is quite good a decision given the fact that Agni Natchathiram is supposed to be over two days prior to it.

The Music is already “THE MOST WANTED” on the Radios. With all the big names on the rolls, the movie should stand up to the expectations.

The first form of promotions have begun, in the form of Hoardings. Anyone on the Anna Flyover just cant miss the majestic billboard of Sivaji. Style ma ! Style ! Im sure Manish Malhotra (the costumer) has done his job well, and it shows up in most of the promo pictures.

I found the Raymonds bill board, right next to Sivaji hoarding. The Caption on Raymonds couldn’t be more approporiate. What say ?

    Sivaji – The LOSS
I couldn’t have said it any better.

I’m fortunate enough not have heard the songs or watched the videos; I did the see some pictures (yuck!) in e-mails, though. And I will not the see the film, even if Sun TV telecasts it in a year’s time on Diwali day 2008. :D

You can take a chennaite out of chennai, or chennai out of chennaite, but you cant take rajnikanth out of a chennaite.. man! this guy attracted crowds even in mumbai, and his movies were sellin like hot cakes in london and paris!!

Its just his ability to make even prim and proper people lose all sense of prorpriety aad dance and whistle in aisle of a theatre! The story of the movie or the songs are just secondary! It the environment he creates

For Charisma its Rajni all the way.. and for acting, i still think kamal is better..

    Tsk Tsk,
“Its just his ability to make even prim and proper people lose all sense of prorpriety aad dance and whistle in aisle of a theatre!”

    – Dude, are you new to TN?
Rajini is not the first one or the only one to make people dance and whistle in the aisles.
Have you gone to Ayodhya kuppam slum in Chennai?

Rajini Rasigan and Navaneeth, you may not like Rajinikanth. But you are going to witness the biggest “Gross revenue” ever. FYI, it has already made profits.

Tsk Tsk, :) Thanks for the last sentence.. It put a smile on ardent Kamal fans, like me.

VJF, whow ! reaally ? are you talking in terms of “Mass” ?

“Rajini Rasigan and Navaneeth, you may not like Rajinikanth. But you are going to witness the biggest “Gross revenue” ever. FYI, it has already made profits.”
    – Are you kidding me??? Distribution pathi theriyama pesa vendam please.
First of all, do you know of the big fight between AVM and Shankar? A fundamental fact which you people don’t understand is interest rate. For a high budget film like this, shooting way beyond schedule has serious implications. They have missed TWO MONTHS of summer vacation. Rajini relies heavily on this period to make his films blockbuster. Adhuvum out.
Do you know AVM was not able to find a distributor for TN till the last minute? Even now, they are going to distribute it directly in TN. Do you know why? The price they quoted was too high and no distributor/exhibitor was ready to give that much, especially with the film not being an April 14 release. Did you know that the budget was planned keeping in mind an April 14 release??? You can imagine why AVM is angry with Shankar.
    a) the extremely high budget
    b) compounded by Shankar’s delay (rents, film roll, wages, interest rate etc)
    c) Missing the summer release
the film MAY STILL BE A BIG HIT. However, its unlikely that it will be a blockbuster.
kootti kazhichu paarunga, kanakku seriya varum.

    About Vijay,
he is doing exactly what Rajini is doing. Rajini seiradhu mattum enna periya class-a? Adhe kuppa dhaan. Atleast Vijay doesnt need wigs or make-up

I was not trying to sound anti-Rajini. He has done some very good roles, and even today I would not mind watching classics like Thillu Mullu. Hey, after all Balachandar thought he was good enough for acting.

It’s just that he’s too old, and way past his prime. His movies still does excite some people, but not me. Even the inch of make-up does not do it for me! He should understand that he no longer looks 25 (not even 35 for that matter!).

As for gross revenues, let’s see how long this movie lasts. Please don’t quote the example of Chandramukhi. I agree that it run for umpteen number of days, but after the first couple of months, it was running only at the theatre owned by the producers.(It’s probably still running there!) That is certainly not a measure of success.

The fact that AVM is realising on its own shows it all.No takers for the movie for the “high-class” rates quoted by AVM…as everyone rightly pointed out summer is over and sivaji will not be mega hit will def be a hit..of course..I am not counting on rajini but counting on shankar…See Thalivar who is going to dub on his own in french for dasavatharam He is the boss and the class…as everyone knows he takes eight hours in the hot sun for the make-up of dv…see the energy and enthusiasm he is exhibiting at 55…Lets not talk anymore about is time talk about dv
