The Book Fair is great as a kankatchi, the Permanent Book Fair on Pantheon Road is good, but for convenience in getting Tamil books you want, nothing beats Dilip Books. It’s as convenient as mail order but he is extremely knowledgeable and will clearly explain about various editions, anthologies, pricing options etc.

Any comments from anyone who has been to this year’s ongoing Chennai Book Fair?

I would specifically like to know if there are any second-hand book-sales options, and if first-hand, if there are any decent price discounts – because i do not think anyone can afford to maintain a strong reading habit these days at the rates at which books are sold (am referring to books in English).. and our local libraries do not happen to have most of the stuff i look for – so that leaves us to go to the British Council / American Council or end up buying books at Rupees Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine only/- :-( :-(
